This international event has been held in Valparaiso, Chile, every two years since 1998, making it the most important event of its kind in the region and serving as a meeting point for Latin American navies and global defence industry exhibitors. In its last edition, the event brought together 88 exhibitors and 35 participating countries, as well as sponsoring institutions from all over the world. Safran Electronics & Defense is a global leader in resilient Positioning, Navigation and Synchronisation technologies, and a European leader in inertial navigation systems (INS) for air, ground and naval applications. It is the European leader in optronics and tactical UAV systems. At EXPONAVAL, the company reinforces its partnership and support to the Chilean Armed Forces with solutions, tools and equipment for their missions, ensuring technological superiority and sovereignty. Safran invites you to visit us at our stand N-295. CUTTING-EDGE PRODUCTS Among the most diverse innovations developed by the group, one of the highlights on display will be those intended for the navies. The VIGY family is a major product line with more than 600 units delivered to more than 20 navies worldwide. Its newest member, the VIGY 4, is an electro-optical panoramic and multi-sensor stabilised shipboard system. Modular and easy to install, it features an HD cooled thermal channel and an HD day channel, both with continuous zoom, a laser rangefinder, an optional SWIR channel and automatic video tracking. It can be combined with an optional sector surveillance module to create a complete and effective surveillance system, tailored to operators’ needs. VIGY 4 can be connected to a combat system and can activate a weapon from the operations centre. To identify any type of threat at long range, Safran offers the PASEO XLR targeting system. It can be used as a fire direction or fire control system for artillery (guns and missiles of all calibres), as well as for sector surveillance and automatic target tracking. PASEO XLR incorporates an HD TV channel including a powerful observation telescope and a long-range Satis XLR infrared camera, as well as an eye-safe laser range finder. A SWIR (shortwave infrared) channel is also integrated to improve identification performance in fog and at long range using the spotting scope. It can be combined with an optional sector surveillance module to form a complete and effective surveillance system. Its optronic performance also allows, via a ballistic computer, to operate weapons of any calibre, up to 127 mm. PASEO XLR benefits from the new capabilities offered by artificial intelligence ACE, short for ‘Advanced Cognitive Engine’. ACE significantly increases target detection, classification and identification capabilities by correcting for the effects of environmental conditions such as atmospheric turbulence or low light. Other features such as advanced target tracking and target of interest detection will help users to accomplish their missions while reducing their cognitive load. BLACK-ONYX is an inertial navigation system designed for all types of ocean class submarines. Thanks to HRG Crystal inertial technology, these families offer the highest autonomous and stealthy navigation performance ever achieved on the market. EUROFLIR 410 is an airborne optronic system from Safran Electronics & Defence, adapted to the needs of all types of airborne platforms (helicopters, aeroplanes, aerostats and drones). By surpassing the milestone of 1000 Euroflir™ orders in 2022 (EF350, EF410 legacy, EF410 NG, STRIX/OSIRIS, EF510 and EF610), Safran has once again demonstrated its global leadership in airborne, ground and maritime optronic systems. EUROFLIR 410 offers unrivalled observation performance, thanks in particular to the integration of 10 sensors, a long-range telescope and high-performance line-of-sight stabilisation. Day or night, whatever the weather conditions, the Euroflir 410 can be used for intelligence, surveillance, guidance, protection, intervention (ISR/ISTAR) or search and rescue (SAR) missions. About Safran Safran is an international high-technology group operating in the aviation (propulsion, equipment and interiors), defence and space markets.
