This agreement seeks to ensure operational reliability and offers long-term cost predictability. The Irish Naval Service’s positive experience with Wärtsilä has been instrumental in achieving this agreement, which was registered by Wärtsilä in January 2024.
“We have full confidence in Wärtsilä’s capabilities. This agreement will help us achieve the level of efficiency and reliability we are looking for, while also improving the environmental performance of these ships,” commented Lieutenant Commander Cian O’Mearain.
The scope of this contract includes maintenance planning, 24/7 operational support and Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight predictive maintenance solution, which uses artificial intelligence to monitor equipment in real time. This allows for significantly reduced downtime and remote troubleshooting, thus maximizing the operational availability of the vessels.
Wärtsilä will also provide crew training services, technical advice, comprehensive maintenance planning and spare parts. Each of the four vessels operates with Wärtsilä 26 engines, controllable pitch propellers, gearboxes, and Enviroguard and Floodguard shaft seals.
This agreement between Wärtsilä and the Irish Naval Service is an example of the type of commitment that Wärtsilä seeks to develop in other maritime markets, such as Chile. With its presence at Exponaval, Wärtsilä reaffirms its interest in providing innovative solutions and optimized support that contribute to efficiency and sustainability in naval operations, demonstrating its leadership in predictive maintenance and advanced technology in the Latin American region.
